Questions About Our Work
Q: I have a settee with flat, tired cushions — can you replace the foam?
Absolutely. Settee foam replacement is something we do regularly. Whether it's a traditional two-seater settee or a more modern style, replacement settee cushions are cut to your exact measurements in the density and thickness that suits you. Just send us a photo and some measurements to get started.Type your paragraph here
Q: Can you replace the foam in a leather sofa? I've heard it's more complicated.
Leather sofa cushions can be a bit different, but we handle them regularly. Some leather cushions are constructed with a flat bottom and a rounded top, and many use layered couch cushion foam — a firmer core with a softer layer on top — to get that sculpted shape. We can recreate this layered construction with new foam so the cushion looks and feels the way it was originally designed to. Give us a call to describe what you have and we'll let you know what's involved.
Q: My sofa has pocket coil cushions. Can those be repaired or replaced?
Pocket coil cushions are one of the most common repairs we do. There are a couple of options depending on the condition of the existing cushions. If the casing is in good shape and the cushion is relatively new, we may be able to remove the coil unit and replace it with a firm foam insert. If the cushions are more than a couple of years old and have seen heavy use, we generally recommend replacing the entire cushion — new sofa sponge, new casing, fresh feel. We'll give you an honest assessment and recommend the most cost-effective solution.
Q: My back cushions have gone flat and the fabric is falling apart. Can you fix them?
This is a very common problem. The casing on back cushions is usually made from a low-grade spun polyester that deteriorates quickly, and the pillow stuffing inside tends to compress into a dense, saggy lump over time. We can replace the casing and either refurbish the existing filling or make entirely new cushions from scratch. Refurbishing an existing back cushion is typically around $30 per cushion. Making a completely new cushion including the casing and stuffing is around $80. Either way, it's a straightforward fix that makes a big difference to the look and comfort of your sofa.
Q: Can you make cushions for unusual shapes — like a Muskoka chair, glider, or curved bench?
We make custom foam cushions in almost any shape — wedges, curves, tapered seats, and specialty cuts for glider chairs, Muskoka chairs, and curved benches. If you have an existing cushion to use as a template, that's very helpful. If not, accurate measurements and a clear description of the shape will get us started. We can sew the covers too, so it's a complete custom job from foam to finished cushion.
Q: My cushion covers are worn out but the foam inside is still good. Can you just make new covers?
Yes, absolutely. If your foam is still in decent shape, new covers are a great option and much more affordable than replacing everything. A single cushion cover with a zipper and topstitching starts at around $60. We sew in a range of fabrics for indoor use, and we also carry weather-resistant outdoor fabric for patio furniture. It's a quick way to refresh the look of a sofa or chair without a full cushion replacement.
Q: How do I get started? Do I need to bring anything in for a quote?
The easiest way to get started is to email us with some approximate measurements and a photo if you can. That gives us enough to provide an initial quote without you having to travel anywhere. From there, we'll arrange either a drop-off or a home visit depending on the project. We keep things simple — no pressure, no obligation, just an honest price.
